DEVELOPMENT BANK OF THE PHILIPPINES (DBP) ENDOWMENT FOR EDUCATION PROGRAM (DEEP)
In 2009, DCSP was granted by the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) with its DBP Endowment for Education Program (DEEP). This program is part of DBP's corporate social responsibility and provides financial assistance to poor but deserving students who are taking up BSMT and BSMarE in DCSP.
This program is a collective effort of DBP (as the financial partner), DCSP (as the education and training institution) and the shipping companies (as the industry partners and employers of the DEEP scholars). DEEP scholars of DCSP are assured of employment right after they have completed their training, thus, this program will certainly help uplift the socio-economic status of the scholars and their families.
The qualification requirements for the above mentioned scholarship programs are the following:
- Enrolled as first year student in DMMA in either BSMT or BSMARE;
- Pass written, oral and APRO examinations;
- Physically and mentally fit;
- Natural-born Filipino citizen;
- Single;
- At least 16 years old but not more than 22 years old on April of the current year;
- At least high school graduate and has a general average of 85 and above and with no subject grade below 80.
- Date of selection by sponsoring companies willl be on May.
Selected scholars for the program will be housed in the College dormitory provided by the College in the campus. They will take the 2-1-1 program, which means, 2 years in school, 1 year on board a company vessel and 1 year back in school for the 4th year level. After graduation, the cadet will take the licensure examination and go back to the company for a regular job on board. All the expenses to be incurred in the schooling of the scholar will be sponsored by the shipping industry partners of DMMA COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES.
